Frequently Asked Questions

Power Controller Topic: Calorific Value of G3PX

FAQ No. FAQ01994

Question

What is the calorific value of the G3PX Power Controllers?

Answer

When the G3PX is turned ON and has a load current, residual voltage appears in the switching element. The calculation for calorific value is shown below.

Example:

VRMS (residual voltage) for G3PX-220EUN (rated current 20 A) = 1.6 V (catalog output ON voltage drop) when power consumption is P:

P=20A×1.6V
P=32W

This is the power consumption of the G3PX.

To convert to calories:
4.19 W per 1 cal/s

=32W÷4.19

=approx.7.6cal/s

Residual voltage is the voltage loss inside the semiconductor when the semiconductor turns ON.
