Motion Controller Packs a Punch!

CS1W-MCH Motion Control Unit

February 19, 2004 (ASIA PACIFIC) - Omron's new CS1W-MCH Motion Controller is designed to meet the demand of today's precision industrial applications that require speed, accuracy and flexibility in controlling the system. This advanced PLC based motion controller covers the needs of multi axes applications that offer up to 30 axes!

The high-speed bus communication between the motion controller and Omron W-series drive enhances the performance of the whole system.

The CS1W-MCH motion controller is the perfect solution for satisfying all your complex motion application requirements. The dedicated electronic axes synchronization function is an ideal solution in printing machines, wire-machines, packaging machines, textile machines, food processing machines. Other features like Linear and Circular interpolation can be used for semiconductor pick & place and cutting machines, electronic cam & electronic gearing to reduce mechanical hardware in grinding tool machines - in fact any multi axes application can be solved and integrated perfectly in a complete factory line.

The perfectly matched Omron’s CS1W-MCH motion control with W-series servo drives via motion bus reduces the costly discrete wiring needed for multi axes. With motion link cable, it simplifies wiring for each axis reducing cost and time needed for installation. It also means that the maintenance and trouble-shooting are minimized.

With CS1W-MCH you can have multi-tasking of up to eight different motion program tasks running simultaneously and every program accepts up to eight parallel branches. All the branches in all tasks will be executed every system cycle.

The motion program is written in a simple-to-use BASIC language, making the system easy to design, install and commission. Using Omron’s value added MCH-Tool, you can create programs, read and write system parameters and servo parameters, positional data and cam data, and download or upload these to CS1W-MCH Unit, seamlessly.

You can also access the entire system from one point- all you need is a laptop and Omron’s software package to program the system!

Features:

• PLC-based motion controller
• Complete digital control of drives via Mechatrolink-II
• Controls up to 30 axes + 2 virtual axes.
• Simplified wiring saves cost and design time
• Real multi-tasking and parallel programming
• Simple to develop and modify using BASIC
• Access to complete system from one point
• Linear and circular interpolation
• Electronic axes synchronization
• Electronic CAM profiles
• One hardware registration per axis
• Dedicated inputs / outputs on the controller
• All features on the W-series Servo Drives are available

The CS1W-MCH fits perfectly into Omron’s W-series servo drive, bringing functionality to this servo drive. With the W-series, you can choose from a wide range of servo motors, from 30W to 15KW for your servo system requirements! In fact, a wide range of applications can be solved effectively by more than one motor type.

In selection of servo drives & motors for your system, we have a team of application engineers who can offer you the value added service with our sizing software to identify proper motor size for your predefined standard application in a very short time! Applications such as ball screw, belt & pulley, turntable, roll feeder, rack & pinion can be easily calculated for the required inertia and torque, allowing us to select the proper motor from the detail database of different motor type. By using this software, we can even generate a comprehensive and detailed report on the selected motor type.
