OMRON's Duplex PLCs provide more than just duplex CPU Units. They offer a broad range of redundancy possibilities to suit essentially any system requirements, ranging from machine control to process control. Use duplex operation for only the power supply, or use duplex Controller Link and Ethernet communications or online Unit replacements.

Online Unit Replacement

 

When using CS1D CPU Units for either Duplex- CPU or Single-CPU Systems, Basic I/ O Units, Special I/ O Units, and CPU Bus Units can be replaced online while the power is ON and the PLC is operating. During replacement, operation of the Unit being replaced will stop, but all other Units in the system will continue operating.

Duplex Networks Improve Reliability for Increased Information

 

Duplex Ethernet operation increases the reliability of information system networks

Duplex operation of network lines and Communications Units is used, allowing communications to continue even if a broken line in the network occurs or one of the Communications Units fails.
Unlike systems that switch entire networks, the paths available for communications are automatically selected, allowing a network to be built with even greater reliability against broken lines in multiple locations.

 

CS1D-ETN21D and CS1D CPU Unit Ver.1.1 and above are required for duplex operation of an Ethernet network.

 

 

The status of the connection to the Ethernet network can be monitored

The connection status for each line is always reflected in words allocated in PLC memory. This allows early detection of faulty nodes and lines in the ladder programming or at the host device, thereby improving maintenance.

Duplex Controller Link Network between PLCs

 

Communications will continue using the other Unit if the one Unit fails. The network is maintained by using a loopback if the network line is broken.

The CS1W- CLK12- V1 or CS1W- CLK52- V1 is required for Duplex Controller Link networks.

Program without Worrying about Duplex Operation

 

Duplex communications with the CS1D does not require special programming for duplex operation.

This simplifies the program design for duplex systems.

 

Ethernet can be used to simplify complicated programming for message communications that was previously built into applications

Controller Link can be used to configure data links with efficient area allocations

 

Configuring the same data links as used by a single Controller Link Unit eliminates wasting memory. The Duplex Controller Link Units share the data links.

Space-saving compactness

The CS1D is based on medium-sized PLCs. Compared with conventional, large-sized PLCs, it saves considerable space in machines and facilities.

 

Approx. 50% smaller compared to previous Omron Models.

Seamless network environments

With the CS1D, networks are available for every level: Ethernet communications for data, Controller Link and SYSMAC LINK for controllers, and DeviceNet for components. Message can be sent and received over a maximum of three network levels.
